Paws for Poetry

book cover

And Yet by Kate Baer

Poet Kate Baer offers another brilliant collection of poetry in her signature style: she eases the reader into her inviting poems of modern day life, punctuated by a bullseye punch to the gut/heart/mind. The poems are thoughtful and sometimes funny. One of my favorites is a piece called "Filling the Page," in which the author takes revenge against a husband (not her own) dismissive of writing poetry as easy - the brilliance of the poem is the author's use of a literary demise against the offender that he likely would not comprehend. Kate Baer has won a spot in my heart as a favorite poet. The final punch of And Yet is when the reader realizes the last poem of the collection has been read. For a teaser of the poet’s work, visit her website and scroll all the way to the bottom. Those of you who attended one of our recent Reading Retreats may remember that we read. “Burnout,”  a poem from And Yet.

And Yet by Kate Baer will be released on November 8 in both hardcover and paperback.
