Readers,
As you know from being in the store, we’re constantly putting up displays: Valentine’s Day! Memorial Day! Book Group Picks! Bestsellers! Books with a blue cover!
Our latest display contains the books we currently have in the store about racism.
Here’s what we know—when a reader suffers the death of a loved one, that reader may well come looking for a grief book. When a reader is about to get a pet, s/he may well come looking for a book about pets. When a new baby is born, reader family members will gift that baby with books. It’s what readers do—we read books about the things on our radar. This has never been more evident than in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. Readers immediately yearned for antiracism books. Of course—they’re readers. So dear readers, here are some books that we hope may offer you hope, education, or whatever you’re seeking in learning about, processing, and working against the systemic racism in our country.
We’re offering lists of books. One list contains the books on racism we currently have in the store. Other lists we’ve gathered from a variety of sources and we may or may not be familiar with the titles it contains. There may be overlap between the lists. You may place orders by calling the store at 218-237-2665, emailing jen@beagleandwolf.com, or going to our online store. Books on racism have been the most requested titles from bookstores and libraries in recent days. Be aware that many are backordered, and there may be a delay in securing them.
