It’s what independent booksellers have been doing forever—discovering and championing new authors. Twice yearly, Indies Introduce bookseller panelists from every region of the country choose 10 adult and 10 children’s titles as the top debuts of the season from among publishers’ submissions.

The Summer/Fall 2015 Indies Introduce titles include adult fiction, middle grade, and young adults books releasing between June and October 2015. Jen was on the panel selecting Children’s Titles! More about Indies Introduce.

The Jesus Cow
a novel by Michael Perry

We’re always happy when a new book by Michael Perry (Coop, Truck, Population 485) is released! The Jesus Cow is fiction set in rural Wisconsin, territory familiar to those who have read other books by Perry.

Life is suddenly full of drama for low-key Harley Jackson: A woman in a big red pickup has stolen his bachelor’s heart, a Hummer-driving predatory developer is threatening to pave the last vestiges of his family farm, and inside his barn is a calf bearing the image of Jesus Christ. Harley would like to keep the word about the calf quiet, but the secret not only gets out—it goes viral. Soon, Harley has more attention—and trouble—
than he’s ever dreamed possible.

As always with Michael Perry, the writing is great and the story is humorous,  touching, and thought provoking.

bookNew Prairie Kitchen: Stories and Seasonal Recipes from Chefs, Farmers, and Artisans of the Great Plains
a cookbook by Summer Miller.

Summer has given us such a gift with her book New Prairie Kitchen! The beautiful prose, touching stories of the Great Plains, and incredible photography are reward enough. And then come the recipes! Mouthwatering, interesting, soul quenching dishes that are sure to become favorites in every kitchen. This is more than a cookbook—it's a love letter to the heartland.

bookWherever You Go

a children's picture book by Pat Zietlow Miller and Eliza Wheeler

We have this book on our graduation display AND with the pictures books. As an inspiring and beautiful celebration of life and new experiences, it’s perfect for both displays!
